Technology 2         Intermediate Tech Canyon View Jr.        DISCLOSURE DOCUMENT/CLASS OUTLINE          Mr. Aston

GENERAL OUTLINE- This class will increase the student's team work, and problem solving skills. They will be introduced to the technological systems in Aerospace, Communications, Construction, Manufacturing, Biotechnology, and Energy-Power-Transportation. The curriculum is designed around understanding technological systems, their impacts on society, and careers associated with each system. This class is available to all students, no matter what their race, color, religion, gender, disability, or national origin is.

CLASS FEES -An integral part of this CTE (career and technical education) course is the production of projects. The school board approved a class fee associated with this course, paid at registration, which covers the cost of supplies necessary to learn the competencies and skills associated with this class. Students will be on a self pace program for much of the semester. They will be able to choose many of the activities they do from a list, but must complete activities from at least 4 of the 8 areas listed at http://cvjh.alpinedistrict.org/Faculty/aston411/IntermediateTechEd.htm but may do several activities from one of the areas.

HOMEWORK - Homework will consist of studying for tests, reports, and working on projects. Homework due on a day when the student is absent must be turned in at the beginning of the next class attended, or it is late.

ATTENDANCE POLICY - This is a participation class. A tardy is defined as the student not in their assigned seat when the tardy bell rings. Excused absences for pre-authorized school activities will not result in a loss of daily points, but not attending class for any other reason will result in a loss of points at the instructor's discretion. We have 4 different rooms we will use this year. Leaving the classroom where the class is working on their activity, without the instructor's permission for any reason, will be a sluff and will be reported to the administration office. A sluff will be dealt with using the method discussed in the grading procedure.

GRADING PROCEDURE-CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE PLAN - Grades will be determined by category points. Safety/Participation/Clean-up points are 30% of the grade which includes attendance, clean up, behavior, and following safety procedures. Breaking a safety rule will result in the loss of 10 points. Breaking a class rule will result in the loss of 5 points per occurrence and is not limited to one occurrence in a day. A sluff will result in the loss of 30 points. The student starts the quarter with 50 points in this category. The assignments including projects make up 40% of the grade and the other 30% is for safety and activity tests.
